The Canes’ T.U.R.F. (“Transformative Uses for Regional Fields”) Project is necessary. There’s a dire need to replace the 23-year-old track and field that currently have the student-athletes at a disadvantage. The T.U.R.F. Projectwill create a usable track and playable fields offering the best pedagogical experience and community gathering place. The T.U.R.F. Project will allow for more hours of use, lower maintenance costs, and less use of water and pesticides.
The new track and field will be relocated and reoriented for optimal use including a regulation size synthetic field that is comparable to other communities in New England. The T.U.R.F. Project will allow the regional student-athletes, physical education programs, recreational programs, and community members to gain long-term wellness from safe outdoor facilities. This project will be ADA and Title IX compliant. Additionally, it will allow for revenue generating opportunities such as hosting regional and state competitions, competitive league rentals, and other community events.
The Boosters have done research. There are eco-friendly, player-friendly synthetic turf field options You can learn more through this presentation.
INVEST! With your help, we are working towards our long-term capital campaign to contribute towards the track and turf field project.
